Why this page sits on a site about fees
Every table here says the same thing from a different angle: the route is expensive on small amounts and cheap on large ones. Read carelessly, that is an argument for depositing more, and it is not one. A larger deposit is cheaper per naira and is also a larger amount at risk, and the second fact is the one that matters.
The version of this that actually helps is narrower and it is genuinely useful: decide the figure before the route starts. Not a range, not "whatever is left over" — a number, chosen with a clear head, before any of the four steps begins. Everything on this site is easier to use that way, and one thing becomes impossible: adding to a deposit in the middle because the spread turned out to be worse than expected.
What a limit set in an account does that a decision does not
- It holds when attention does not. A deposit limit in account settings applies at the moment it matters, which is not the moment it was set.
- It is visible. A figure in an account is a fact; a figure in your head is a memory.
- It takes effect before the route, not during it. By the time money is in coin, four steps have already been paid for.
- Self-exclusion exists and is not a last resort. Most operators provide it in the same settings screen as the limits.
The signals worth noticing
Nobody is well placed to judge their own position from inside it, which is why written signals are more useful than a feeling. These are the ordinary ones, stated plainly and without dramatising them.
- Depositing more than the figure decided beforehand. Especially when the reason is that the route cost more than expected.
- Returning to a balance to recover a loss. The route charges for each crossing regardless of the reason for it.
- Playing with money that has another purpose. Rent, school fees, someone else's money.
- Hiding the activity. From people who would have an opinion about it.
- Borrowing to continue. In any form, including from a wallet's credit feature.
Any one of those is worth pausing on. Several together is the point at which the arithmetic on the rest of this site stops being the relevant arithmetic, and Gamblers Anonymous is a better page to be reading than this one.
Setting a limit that actually holds
- Set it in the account, not in your headDeposit limits, session limits and loss limits live in the account settings of most operators in this catalogue.
- Set it before the first depositA limit set while a balance is at zero is a different decision from one set while it is not.
- Know how long it takes to raiseMost operators apply a decrease immediately and an increase after a delay. That asymmetry is the feature, and it is worth knowing before it is needed.
- Know where self-exclusion isIn the same settings screen, usually. Finding it in advance costs nothing and removes a step at the moment it would be hardest to take.
The one number worth knowing in advance
Before the first deposit, the useful figure is not the bonus and not the game catalogue. It is what a round trip costs: put money in, play nothing, take it out. On ₦5,000 that returns ₦0 in the worst case and on ₦50,000 it returns ₦36,940. Knowing that before starting changes what a reasonable deposit looks like, and it is the least exciting page on this site for a reason.
The arithmetic is on cashing out, and the reasoning behind every figure in it is on how this is worked out.
